A day of riding coaching

How the day goes

A course is not riding behind an instructor: it is breaking things down, repeating, correcting, and feeling the difference the same day.

Morning · 9.30 am to 12.30 pm

The fundamentals, as a group

Body position and balance, vision and anticipation, braking and grip, berms and switchbacks, steps and roots, technical climbs on an E-Bike. On ground chosen for the group's level, with progressive drills.

Afternoon · 1.30 pm to 5 pm

You, your bike, what holds you back

Each rider is taken individually on what matters most to them, with slow-motion video analysis to see what you cannot feel. You leave with your clips, the corrections to work on and a plan for the weeks ahead.

Two levels in a group, the third in private

Beginner, intermediate, or beyond?

Beginner course

Technical 1 to 2/4 · fitness 2/4

You are new to off-road riding or have been at it for a short while, and you want the right foundations before bad habits settle in. We work on position, braking, first corners and small obstacles, on easy bike park runs and flowing tracks.

Requirements: you can ride a bike, your MTB or E-Bike is in working order, and you want to learn.

Intermediate course

Technical 2 to 3/4 · fitness 2/4

You ride regularly but you have plateaued: tight switchbacks, steps, steep or greasy ground hold you back. We break down what blocks you, correct the technique and put it to the test on red runs and committing singletrack.

Requirements: comfortable on moderate to steep trails with roots and rocks, steps up to 20 cm.

Advanced level

Technical 3/4 and above · private only

Jumps, drops, nose-turn switchbacks, steep exposed ground, race preparation: at this level everyone is blocked by something different, and a group course can no longer follow. So we work in private, alone or with two or three riders of a similar level, on the ground that matches your goal.

Format: half day from 240 CHF or full day from 450 CHF, on the date you choose.

Pro advice, by video

A move has been beating you for months? You ride far from Valais? You want an opinion without blocking out a day? Send your clip and get the instructor's analysis on video, with the corrections to work on and the drills to get there.

  1. Film the move or the feature, from the side and head-on if you can: thirty seconds is enough.
  2. Send your clip and describe how it feels.
  3. Get commented video feedback within a few days, to keep as a reference.

Thirty years of mountain biking, fifteen spent teaching it

  • Teaching and patience Hundreds of riders taught since 2010, from a first singletrack to race level. Everyone moves at their own pace, nobody is pushed.

  • Still racing A former racer who still lines up: two podiums at the 2026 Megavalanche. What he teaches, he rides.
  • Video analysis as a tool Every course uses slow-motion video to see what you cannot feel, and you keep your clips as a reference.

« The riding course for beginners is great for getting to grips with the technical basics of mountain biking. I recommend it a thousand times over! The Fully Bike Park lets you work on corners, balance, body position, drops and even jumps for the keenest. The course combines theory and practice, in a group but with individual attention. And above all, I am so glad I did this course with Christian: his kindness, his warmth, his expertise and his energy gave me the confidence to try things and to feel at ease! »

« Chris is without a doubt the best coach you can find for any level! After one day in Verbier, I don't think I'll ever ride the same way again. Chris gave me all the theoretical bases, and then throughout the day, before and during the downhill runs, he is constantly correcting your faults and where you can improve! At the end of the day you know exactly what you need to train to get much better technically, and how to do it. »

« Great day! Whether you are a beginner or already at ease on the bike, Chris coaches you with excellent technical advice, patience and good humour. A big new addition at Exoride: e-MTB lessons, advice on how to handle these latest-generation machines and use them to the full on the terrain, downhill as well as uphill. Fun with Exoride! »

Frequently asked questions

What level do I need?
Two levels in a group: beginner (technical 1 to 2/4) and intermediate (2 to 3/4). Above 3/4, the work is done in private, alone or with two or three riders of a similar level. If in doubt, write to us: we will point you in the right direction in two minutes.
Can I come on an E-Bike?
Yes, courses mix MTB and E-Bike, and the programme includes technical climbs on an E-Bike. Descending technique is taught the same way on both.
What kit do I need?
A full-suspension MTB or E-Bike in good order (serviced brakes and tyres), a helmet, knee pads, gloves, water and a packed lunch. Bike and protective gear can be rented.
How many of us per course?
Five riders at most on a riding day, two in a mechanics workshop. That is what makes the individual afternoon possible.
What do I leave with?
Your clips from the day, the corrections to work on and a plan for the weeks ahead. Video coaching then lets you have your progress checked from a distance.
What if the weather is bad?
We ride in almost any weather: greasy ground is part of the learning, after all. If conditions become dangerous, we contact you to reschedule.
Can I book a private course?
Yes, alone or as an established group, on the date you choose: half day from 240 CHF, full day from 450 CHF. It is also the format for company outings and for the advanced level.
Payment and cancellation?
Paid online when you sign up, Exo'points earned on every outing, cancellation terms set out in the general conditions.
